Necco is coming to Ohio!!!!

Spangler of Bryon, Ohio, purchased NECCO, the New England Confectionery Company, yesterday in a bankruptcy auction. Although most news stories have focused on the Necco Wafer, NECCO makes so much more. Here is the list of candies that have been being produced in the Revere, MA factory:
Banana Splits
Candy Buttons
Clark Bars
Clark Coconut Crunch
Conversation Hearts, NECCO
Mary Janes
Mint Juleps
NECCO Wafers
Nonpareils, Large and Mini in Bulk
Sky Bars
Slap Sticks
Squirrel Nut Zippers
and
Strawberry Malt Balls.
So it is with great excitement that we here at Boyd's were glad to learn Spangler, a company that used to sit in downtown Toledo and is now just a short drive out to Bryan, Ohio was the successful bidder in the NECCO Bankruptcy auction on Wednesday, May 23rd.
The move makes so much sense as land is expensive in Revere, MA and is more affordable in Bryan, Ohio. If you've ever taken the tour of Spangler, you know what an impressive plant the Spangler factory is. Clean, efficient, and filled with people who love to make candy. This will assure all the Necco fans, be they wafer lovers or Clark bar lovers, or Squirrel Nut Zipper addicts, these candies that are the love of generations will still be around for years to come.
